Born in Zimbabwe Nick graduated in Law from Oxford before moving into the Asian financial markets. Nick ‘returned' to Africa 10 years ago recognising the future trend of investing in the hospitality sector. Initially investing in Kaya Mawa, Safari by Ulendo (Malawi’s leading tour operator) and subsequently co-founded the Latitude Hotels Group. Nick has been and remains responsible for leading the drive for investment for the Latitude Hotels Group, liaising with investors and potential partners and leading the business strategy forward for the company.
Initially educated in hospitality James went on to qualifying as a solicitor before returning to the industry in 2003. With a passion for design and development he is responsible with Nick Brown for taking Kaya Mawa from a run down beach lodge to one voted in the top 5 in the world by Conde Nast within 4 years and a co-founder of the Latitude Hotels Group. James is responsible for overseeing the design and build of both Latitude 13 and 15 and all future projects. James also heads up the operations and marketing side of the business liaising with the teams in each domicile.
Alistair has over 27 years experience in the financial services industry and has successfully managed in excess of $2 billion of assets for funds based out in Asia. Alistair oversaw the set up and incorporation of both the local and international entities of the company required for working within Africa. Drawing from his experience in the financial industries Alistair is in the perfect position to oversee the strategic planning, budgeting, capital allocation, compliance and administration of the Company both locally and offshore.
Born in Zimbabwe Coen holds an M.A. In Development Economics from UEA, and B.Sc. (Econ) from the London School of Economics. Coen spent more than 25 years broking equities out of London, Tokyo and Singapore for various investment banks prior to joining the Latitude Hotels Group. Since joining Coen has been responsive for doing the early stage feasibility studies across southern and Eastern Africa, researching cities where the Group is potentially interested in establishing a presence, researching the competition, understanding the local property market, assessing the impact of infrastructure change on a city's future dynamics, identifying possible sites, and incorporating a local entity.
A qualified Chartered Surveyor, working in private practice for 5 years before moving into Investment Banking in the late eighties. He has over 25 years investment banking experience and has an extensive network of contacts, having worked for Nomura, Barings and most recently Goldman Sachs.
Group Operations Manager
John is a seasoned hospitality professional with an impressive 30 years' experience in 7 countries. For the last 18 years he has been involved with African hotel and lodge developments, spanning a large conferencing resort and a boutique fishing lodge in South Africa, 2 luxury hotel openings in Rwanda and the redevelopment of a luxury lodge on a working farm on the outer slopes of Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater. John comes to Latitude hotels after spending 4 years running and developing further the historic boutique Arusha Hotel.
Group Executive Chef at Latitude Hotels, Andrew O' Halloran studied a degree in Hotel and catering Management and began his career training in a Michelin star restaurant on Lake Geneva. After finishing his studies he traveled to work for one of the top contract caterers in Brisbane Australia and was very fortunate to work with Western Asian Cuisine. Upon his return to Ireland, Andrew worked for some of the best restaurants in the country before accepting a position with Wilderness Safaris in Africa. Andrew is now happy to bring all his experience to the Latitude Hotels group.
General Manager, Latitude 15
A graduate from the University of Stellenbosch and a post-graduate Diploma in Human Resources and Management.Following on from working in a wine estate for 6 years, Michelle pursued her passion thereafter, working in 5 star luxury hotels in the UK in management and training capacities.The last 14 years have seen Michelle running successful restaurants in Cape Town, opening of 2 luxury hotels in Rwanda and the redevelopment of a luxury lodge on a working farm on the outer slopes of Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater. More recently Michelle has been running a boutique lodge on the outskirts of Arusha.

Bridget Mangulama, General Manager
Bridget joined us in May 2014 from the Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe. Prior to that she had spent eight years in the UK having qualified in Hospitality and Food Management in Birmingham, as well as gaining work experience with Hilton, City Inn, and also Mamaison. We are proud that she is Malawi's first female GM, and in addition to her time in the UK she also lived in Tokyo for a few years, which she describes as her favorite city in the world
Sherrie Kankhomba, Assistant Manager
Sherrie joined us in July 2012, transitioning quickly from being a waitress to managing the bar, and through to her current position. She has built upon her experience in Cape Town where she lived from 2007-2011, obtaining her certificate in Food and Beverage Service from the HBR Training Academy before jobs with Southern Sun, Ratanga Junction in Canal Walk, and the Asoka Lounge Bar. Outside of work, she is passionate about fashion design.
Cephus Kadewere, Head Chef
Having completed his secondary education in Zimbabwe, Cephus completed his certificate in Hotels and Catering Supervision in Malawi, gaining a distinction in all five courses. Having worked in a number of Malawi's more well-known restaurants, he joined Latitude 13 in June 2012, becoming Head Chef in July 2014. With over twelve years experience in the business, we are delighted that Cephus has progressed our reputation as Lilongwe's finest dining destination.
Emily Madinga, Sous Chef
Still only 23, she joined us in May 2014. Prior to that she obtained her certificate in Hotel and Catering Management from Soche Technical College which included a work placement with Protea Hotels in Blantyre. Thereafter she gained a further certificate in food production at the Malawi Institute of Tourism, with her work place,ent at the Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi. During these years she has had experience across the spectrum working in housekeeping, bar, front office, as well as in the kitchens.
Memory Nyondo, Duty Manager
Memory joined us in early 2014 as a receptionist, and was promoted to her current position after six months. She holds diplomas in Information and Communication Technology, and Business Management, and is working towards a higher diploma in the latter field also. She has spent several years in the hospitality industry, and has gained great satisfaction from the various technology improvements at Latitude, including the POS and internal management systems.
General Manager, Kaya Mawa
Michelle comes with a background as a patissiere and chef, followed on by working her way through the Virgin group to become a fan Upper Class stewardess before joining Kaya Mawa 7 years ago. She has been responsible for the success behind the service of the Kaya Mawa. Michelle help set up Latitude 13 and 15 and continues to work on a consultancy basis with the Latitude Hotels Group.
Richard has spent his entire working life as a chef. Prior to joining Kaya Mawa Richard worked as a training chef for Jamie Oliver at Recipes. Since joking Kaya Mawa 7 years ago he has been nominated for a number of awards. Richard set up Latitude 13 and remains a consultant to the Group on menu’s and dish styling.
